encoder and decoder. If the
FieldFone II
is in local loopback, the
display will look like this:
Modem Loopback
loops the signal on the analog side (output) of the
modem. Using the modem loopback enables you to test all functions of
your
FieldFone II
, including the A/D, D/A, encoder/decoder, and
modem sections. When in modem
loopback, the display should look like
this:
When in this mode, the
FieldFone II
behaves as if an actual connection
has been established; i.e., the red ‘ON LINE’ LED will flash for a while
and then stay on. To exit the modem loopback mode, press the
END
key, followed by the
ENTER
key. This will automatically return the
FieldFone II
to normal operation mode.
Remote Loopback
puts the
far-end
modem into digital loopback. After
a connection is established, the far-end modem is looped digitally,
before the encoder/decoder. This is useful for testing the
communications link as well as the
FieldFone II
. When in the remote
loopback state, the display should look
like this:
Notes on using remote loopback:
—During remote loopback, the loopback state of the far-end
FieldFone
,
FieldFone II
or
StudioFone
must be ‘NONE’.
—Do not attempt to change the configuration of the far-end
FieldFone
,
FieldFone II
or
StudioFone
.
—Terminating the connection will not reset the modem into normal
operation. You must manually switch out of the remote loopback
mode after dropping the line.
For normal operation; i.e., passing audio to, and receiving audio from a
far end unit, the loopback mode must be set to None.
To verify the current state of the
FieldFone II
loopback, up-arrow to the
top of the menu tree. For normal end-to-
end operation, the display should look
like this:
