5. If the call is to the transceiver's individual address, any speech and/or message is
ignored and the transceiver will return to battery economy mode. If the call is to the All-
Call address, all messages are ignored but the receiver speech circuits will be enabled
for 2 to 4 seconds.
6. If the PTT switch is pressed, the transmitter will key up and the message `Test-Mode 1'
displayed.
7. Test Mode 1 may also be enabled via the P648 programming unit. In this event the
transceiver will record the number of calls it has received and store this in EEPROM
when it is switched off or reset. The call counter will store numbers up to 255 (FFh)
before resetting to zero. It is possible to interrogate the call counter using the P648T.
Select `Edit Transceiver Details' and then select `Hex Display'. The call counter can
be found at address 018. Programming `Test Mode' to 0 will reset the call counter to
zero.
8. If Test Mode 1 is enabled by the P648T, rather than the transceiver keypad, pressing
PTT will not key up the transmitter.
TEST MODE 2
9. Press , [1], [2] to select Test Mode 2. This puts the transceiver into short alert mode,
with escalert, call comparator and extended alert suspended. The RIC is changed to
1-1501. Note that the original RIC is stored and reinstated on leaving test mode. When
the transceiver is called, a single 1.0s alert tone is generated. The message
`Test-Mode 2' will be displayed.
TEST MODE 3
10. Press , [1], [3] to select Test Mode 3. This puts the receiver into speech mode (i.e.
audio on permanently with squelch circuits defeated). The receiver will stay in this
mode until this test mode is defeated; all other functions are as normal. The message
`Test-Mode 3' will be displayed.
TEST MODE 4
11. Press , [1], [4] to select Test Mode 4. This puts the transmitter into continuous
speech mode. The transmitter will stay in this mode until this test mode is defeated; all
other functions are as normal. The message `Test-Mode 4' will be displayed.
