ETC Exhaust turbocharger

MTU Series 8V4000M24S marine “Genset” engines are suitable for low-load operation.

State-of-the-art design and equipment featuring e.g. TE coolant circuit, triple-walled water-cooled exhaust
pipe, Common Rail fuel injection and cylinder cutout facilitate this type of operation.

Low-load operation (engine power up to approx. 20% of rated engine power) is realized in single ETC mode (1
exhaust turbocharger running).

We recommend running the engine with both exhaust turbochargers at least once after every 100 operating
hours in low-load operation at the latest. This safeguards operation of the switching mechanism and the ex-
haust flap of the exhaust turbocharger which is out of use in low-load operation.
