2�2 IM Features
LSI Logc Integrated Mrrorng and Integrated Mrrorng Enhanced support the followng
features:
Configurations of one or two IM or IME volumes on the same LSI Logic SAS con -
troller. Each volume can consst of two mrrored dsks (IM) or three to eght mrrored
dsks (IME).
(Optonal) One global hot spare dsk per controller. If a global hot spare dsk s
defined, the upper limit for an IME volume is seven mirrored disks.
Mrrored volumes run n optmal mode or n degraded mode (f one mrrored dsk
fals)
Hot swap capablty
Presents a sngle vrtual drve to the OS for each IM/IME volume
Supports both SAS and SATA dsks, although the two types of dsks cannot be
combned on the same LSI Logc SAS controller
Fuson-MPT archtecture
Easy-to-use BIOS-based configuration utility (and DOS-based configuration utility
for manufacturng use only)
Error notification: OS-specific event log updated by drivers and errors displayed
nsde the Fuson-MPT BIOS
SES status LED support for Integrated Mrrorng dsks
Wrte journalng, whch allows automatc synchronzaton of potentally nconsstent
data after unexpected power-down stuatons
Metadata used to store volume configuration on mirrored disks
Automatc background resynchronzaton whle host I/Os contnue
Background media verification ensures that data on the IM volume is accessible
