P-States (IST)
This item allows you to enable/disable Processor Performance States (P-States); these states allow you to
choose the speed at which your processor will handle itself, thereby conserving energy during usage, or
operating at the top speeds available (while consuming more energy).
Options: Enabled (default), Disabled
HT Support
This item allows you to disable Hyper-Threading (HT).
Options: Auto (default), Disabled
Use XD Capability
This item allows you to enable XD capability—the Execute Disable bit—in the processor. This will prevent the
execution of code in data-only memory, giving some protection against buffer overflow attacks. It is
recommended to enable this feature; however, some software applications (particularly device drivers)
improve performance by executing some of their code from the kernel stack, and in these instances XD will
cause page faults. In these cases, XD must be disabled.
Options: Enabled (default), Disabled
VT Support
This item allows you to enable/disable Intel
®
Virtualization Technology, which gives additional hardware
support when the system is running virtual operating systems.
Options: Enabled (default), Disabled
C-States
This item allows you to enable/disable the processor idling states; these C-States conserve energy when the
processor is not being used (or not being fully used). This saves considerable energy when the system is idling,
but at the cost of a slow wakeup for the system when it has been idling for a long time.
