Wireless client cards from different manufacturers and different operating systems accomplish con-
necting to a wireless LAN and enabling WEP or WPA in a variety of ways. Consult the documentation for
your par ticular wireless card and/or operating system.

WEP - Automatic
: provides an easy way to generate WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) keys for
encr yption of your wireless network traffic. See

WEP - Manual:
WEP Security is a Privacy option that is based on encr yption between the Router
and any PCs (“clients”) you have with wireless cards. If you are not using WPA-PSK Privacy, you can
use WEP encr yption instead. For this encr yption to work, both your Router and each client must
share the same Wireless ID, and both must be using the same encr yption keys. See

WPA-802.1x
provides RADIUS ser ver authentication suppor t. See

WPA-PSK
provides Wireless Protected Access, the most secure option for your wireless network.

Be sure that your Wi-Fi client adapter suppor ts this option. Not all Wi-Fi clients suppor t WPA-PSK.

OFF - No Privacy:
This mode disables privacy on your network, allowing any wireless users to con-
nect to your wireless LAN. Use this option if you are using alternative security measures such as
VPN tunnels, or if your network is for public use.
