Configuring User Login Accounts
Define a unique system login account for each user requiring access to the command
line interface. You can define a system login account with different levels of security
access to the system. The
username
command allows you to define a complete
system login including the user name, password, access-level, and user group.The
following commands are used for defining a user account:
username nopassword
username password
username privilege
username user-group
gives a brief description of each parameter required to configure a user
login account. The sections that follow describe the procedural details for defining
each parameter.
Table 3-1 User Login Account Parameters
Parameter
Description
username
Defines the name of the user account.
A user name comprises a unique set of up to 16
case-sensitive characters.
nopassword
Defines no password for the user account.
password
Defines the password for the user account.
A password comprises a unique set of up to 31
case-sensitive characters - enclosed with double quotes
if the password contains spaces). The "%" and "!"
characters must not be used.
The password can be specified to appear encrypted or
unencrypted in the running-config file.
