6 Installation
The UIM can be m ounted in two different configurations:
• directly on a flat spot within easy reach of the driver
using the supplied
m ounting tape
• using the supplied m ounting bracket.
Caut i on: Do not m ount in a location that obstructs driver’s
vision or interferes with operation of the vehicle.
For opti m al adhesion to the vehicle dashboard:
• Ensure the adhesive and the dashboard surface are
war
m (te m perature above 15º C). For better adhesion in
cold conditions, ensure the vehicle interior and adhesive
are heated for 30
m inutes before applying the adhesive,
and 30 m inutes after applying the adhesive.
• Prepare the dash surface with an appropriate adhesion
pro
m oter. Test the cleaner on a s m all, inconspicuous
area of the m ounting surface to ensure it does not
result in ble m ishing. The surface m ust be co m pletely
dry before m oving to the next step.
• Position and install the m ount with the supplied
adhesive.
• Opti m al curing ti m e at roo m te m perature is 24 hours,
and in cold conditions the adhesive needs 48 hours to
properly cure.
Direct to flat surface
To install the UIM directly on a flat service:
Note: It is reco mm ended to install the UIM directly on a flat
surface as a curved surface can cause difficulties in pushing
the buttons, and can cause the UIM to co
m e loose.
Caut i on: The location of the UIM m ust not interfere with
the vehicle's air bag deploy m ent.
1 Clean m ounting surface thoroughly with an alcohol
wipe (not supplied).
2 Select UIM orientation (controls on left or right of display).
Note: To change screen display orientation, see “Set
install preferences” on page 11.
