9 Installation
Install the microphone
Caut i on: The location of the m icrophone and m icrophone
cable m ust not interfere with the vehicle's air bag
deploy m ent. In particular, side airbags located with the
windshield pillar or door ja m b.
1 Mount the m icrophone in a suitable location using
either the screw, velcro, or clip (supplied).
• For opti m al hands-free perfor m ance, m ount the
m icrophone on the overhead console/do m e light
asse m bly near the front center of the vehicle, away
fro m the window, pointed toward the driver's m outh.
• Locate the m icrophone no m ore than 16 inches (40 c m )
fro m the driver.
• Do not allow anything (such as a rear-view m irror or sun
visor) to block the path between the m icrophone and
the driver.
• Mount the m icrophone fir m ly so that vibrations do not
affect audio quality.
• Refrain fro m locating the m icrophone directly in the
path of heat/AC vents.
• Refrain fro m m ounting the m icrophone on door pillars
or windows that can trans m it exterior wind noise to it.
• Do not attach m icrophone to the vehicle's visor.
2 Route the m icrophone cable down the side of the
windshield, through the dash, and to the vehicle
integration kit.
3 Connect the m icrophone to the vehicle integration kit
connector C (shown on page 4).
Connect the ISO cable
Use the ISO cable to connect the car kit to your vehicle. It
connects the vehicle's power, ignition, and entertain
m ent
syste m to the car kit.
