Brushless speed controller 45 A
Item no. 23 97 44
Intended Use
The product is an electronic speed controller that is connected to a free channel of a remote
control receiver for model vehicles. It serves smooth speed control of a brushless motor. The
speed controller is intended for monster trucks and truggys at a 1:10 scale and operation with 2-
cell LiPo batteries. Programming of the speed controller takes place via an optional programing
card (Conrad item no. 517034).
This product complies with the statutory national and European requirements. All company

Safety Information
The guarantee/warranty will expire if damage is incurred resulting from non-
compliance with the operating instructions! We do not assume any liability for
consequential damage!
We do not assume any liability for property damage and personal injury caused
by improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such cases
the warranty/guarantee is voided.
• The unauthorized conversion and/or modification of the product is prohibited for safety and
approval reasons (CE). Never disassemble the product. There are no components inside the
casing that need to be adjusted or serviced by you. Furthermore, this will render the guarantee/
warranty void!
• The product is not a toy and must be kept out of the reach of children!
• The speed controller must not become damp or wet.
• Disconnect the battery from the speed controller if you are not using the latter. The speed
controller can be temporarily switched off using the on/off switch.
• Always turn on the transmitter first before connecting the speed controller with the battery and
switching it on!
• Before turning off the transmitter, turn off the speed controller and, if necessary, disconnect it
from the rechargeable battery.
• The speed controller can be used with NiMH/NiCd batteries and LiPo batteries. For the
technical data, see the table in the chapter „Technical data“.
• The motor, the speed controller and the batteries can become very hot during operation.
Danger of burns!
• Handle the product with care; impacts, shock or fall even from low heights will damage it.
• Do not leave packaging material unattended. It may become a dangerous toy for children.
• When operating vehicles, make sure that no body parts or other objects come into contact with
moving parts. Risk of injury!
• Always use a battery pack to operate the speed controller. Never use a wall mains adapter.
• Only connect a single brushless motor to the speed controller.
• The brushless speed controller is not suitable for the operation of conventional electric motors
with two connections!
• Keep the biggest possible distance between receiver and speed controller/motor for the
installation, to avoid interaction.
• Do not install the aerial line of the receiver in parallel to the live cables.
• Always turn on the transmitter first and put the engine control into neutral position. Then the
speed controller may be connected to a battery pack and switched on. When switching off,
proceed in reverse order – first switch off the speed controller and disconnect it from the
rechargeable battery, then switch off the transmitter.
• When operating the model, sufficient cooling has to be provided for the speed controller as well
as the motor. Never cover the cooling body and the fan or the speed controller!
• Check the fan function during commissioning. Do not block the fan. Remove dust and dirt from
the fan if it collected there, e.g. by operation of the vehicle.
• Do not block the drive. The resulting currents may destroy the motor and/or speed controller.
• Observe a smooth drive section and perform regular maintenance.
• Check the vehicle and the speed controller/motor for damage. If you discover any damage, do
not operate the vehicle or the speed controller/motor anymore.
• Disconnect the battery from the speed controller before charging.
Assembly
• If the product is to be used as a replacement for an existing speed controller, first remove the
old speed controller from your model.
• Attach the new speed controller in the chassis. Select the same assembly site depending on
the space situation. Ideally, it should be as far away from the receiver as possible. The speed
controller should not be directly next to the motor either. Observe that the red and orange LED
installed below the three motor connection cables are still visible when installed. The
suppression capacitators on one cable also must be attached securely.
• Connect speed controller cables to the motor’s cables, note the colour coding of the cables, this
ensures the forward/reverse operation of the motor is synchronous with that of the speed
controller. If the motor is rotating in the wrong direction anyway (e.g. because the speed
controller is installed in a new vehicle), simply swap two of the three motor connections. The
motor then turns in the other direction. Alternatively, you may electronically change the rotating
speed with the programming card available as an optional accessory.
• If a van is present at the motor, you need to connect it to the two-pin (red/black) cable with
socket.
• You can use hook-and-loop tape or double-sided tape to attach the speed controller.
• Check the four attachment screws of the fan for tight fit. Also check them regularly after
operation of the vehicle.
• The on/off switch should be attached so that it can be operated easily. Also use hook-and-loop
tape or double-sided tape for installation.
• Install all cables so that they cannot become entangled in rotating or moving parts of the vehicle.
Use cable ties to secure them.
Connection to the Receiver
• Connect the three-pin plug of the speed controller to the corresponding channel of the receiver.
Make sure the assignment on the receiver is correct (see operating instructions of the receiver
as well as the information on the receiver).
Yellow/white/orange cable: Control signal
Red cable: Operating voltage
Brown/black cable: Minus/GND
• The speed controller has a BEC. The receiver is powered directly through the speed controller
by the drive battery.
If the BEC is used as power supply of the receiver system, no receiver battery or
rechargeable battery must be used.
Important!
If a separate receiver is to be used instead of the integrated BEC, the middle, red, wire
of the three-pole receiver plug of the speed controller must be interrupted and
insulated. If this is not observed, the speed controller will be destroyed! Loss of
guarantee/warranty!
