Lifting Engine
Fig. 10-1 Lifting hangers
Fig. 10-2 Engine's Center of Gravity
To lift the engine, use wire ropes, shackles and slings
capable of supporting the weight of the engine.
Hitch slings to the hangers provided on the engine to
lift the engine.
Consider the engine's center of gravity and maintain
the balance during lifting.
The hangers equipped with the engine is designed
for lifting the engine only. Where the engine is cou-
pled with a generator, use the special hangers pro-
vided on the common bed.
Hangers of engine cannot be used.
Keep the angle formed by slings attached to hangers
within 60 degrees. If the angle exceeds this limit,
excessive load will be imposed on the hangers and
this could damage the hangers and result in a seri-
ous accident.
Attach wire ropes to the hangers after removing pipe
covers and insulators near the hangers. To prevent
damage to the engine and wire ropes, use a cloth or
other soft padding so that the wire ropes will not
come in contact with the engine.
