5. Maintenance
Intake Air Filter Cleaning
1 Ensure that there are no missing backplane cover plates. Cover plates (used where there are no
backplanes installed) are required for proper cooling in the frame.
2 Place your hand near the air exhausts (at the top). You should feel strong, evenly distributed air
pressure across the entire opening.
3 Check cable connectors for any sign of unseating.
4 Verify that one or both AC cords are firmly seated at both ends. Make sure that the power cord
retainers on the rear of the frame are in place.
Intake Air Filter Cleaning
The air intake filter is located on the front door assembly of the NV5256. Slide the filter up and to
the right to remove it. The process might be easier if you remove the entire door. To remove the
door, simply open the door and lift it straight up. The router can be operated safely with the door
removed for short periods of time.
If the filter is only lightly contaminated with debris, remove loose debris and dirt with a vacuum
cleaner or by blowing air from the clean side to the dirty side. For filters that are badly clogged, a
rinse with cold water might prove effective. You can wash the filter with warm water and mild
detergent. Make sure the filter is completely dry before re-installing it.
Battery Replacement
A CR2330 lithium coin cell is located on the front edge of the router control card. This battery pro-
vides power to maintain the memory contents when power is lost.
If the router control card is continuously powered, the battery should last for several years or more.
If the router control card is frequently powered down, the battery should be replaced every 6
months. A red LED, located directly above the battery holder, illuminates when the battery is low.
The battery can be replaced while the router control card is powered up and operating. Simply pull
the battery from its holder to remove the spent cell. Insert the replacement in the holder while care-
fully observing the polarity of the battery.
Note
Be sure to replace and close the door when you are done. The door ensures that
air entering the frame is properly filtered.
