Operating Instructions Combics 3 Filling
Operation
Save Results
When this function is active, results are stored after
completion of a filling operation (and printed, if a printer
is connected, and/or saved in totalization memory,
if “Totalizing” is active). There are two settings to
choose from:
– Manual (factory setting):
You can save the results with a soft key.
– Automatic:
Results are saved automatically after completion of filling
operations. When the “Manual adding” menu item is active,
results are not saved automatically until the target value
is reached. Results below the target value can be saved
manually.
Only option H4:
With either setting, you can configure a delay (stabilization
timer) between 0 and 25 seconds (factory setting: 0 seconds).
In this case, results are not saved until the configured time has
elapsed after completion of the filling operation.
Monitor Material Flow (only option H4)
This function monitors filling operations in accordance with
user-defined maximum and/or minimum flow rates. Filling is
monitored during both coarse and fine flow phases.
Configure this function as follows under “Parameters”:
– Off (factory setting):
Material flow is not monitored.
– On, minimum material flow:
The monitoring function responds only when the flow rate
drops below the minimum value.
– On, maximum material flow:
The monitoring function responds only when the flow rate
exceeds the maximum value.
– On, min. and max. material flow:
The monitoring function responds when either the
maximum or the minimum flow rate is exceeded.
Under the items “On, minimum material flow”, “On, maximum
material flow” and “On, min. and max. material flow”, you can
set the material flow that may not be exceeded or dropped
below. The value is defined in mass/second (measured in the
weight unit used on the scale). You can also configure a delay
period that expires prior to material flow monitoring.
To define the response when the flow rate drops below the
minimum, choose from the following settings under “Response
to min. mat. flow error”:
– Display info only w/o stopping:
If the material flow falls below the minimum, the filling
operation is not stopped. The situation is only indicated in
the display.
– STOP filling (factory setting):
If the material flow falls below the minimum, the filling
operation is stopped. You can continue or cancel the
operation manually.
Note: If the material flow exceeds the maximum, the filling
operation is always stopped.
Coarse/Fine Control
Defines the positions of coarse and fine flow valves during
the first filling phase (i.e., until the coarse flow shutoff point
is reached). There are two settings to choose from:
– Coarse flow (factory setting):
Only the coarse flow valve is open during “coarse” filling;
the fine flow valve is closed. The display shows “Coarse
flow active”.
– Coarse and fine flow:
Both the coarse and fine flow valves are open during
coarse filling. The display shows “Coarse and fine flows
active”.
Only option H4:
With either setting, you can configure a coarse flow delay
between 0 and 25 seconds (factory setting: 0 seconds).
During this delay period, the coarse flow valve remains
closed and the fine flow valve is open.
Add within Tolerance Range
Defines the response of the filling program to underfilling.
You can choose from the following settings:
– Manual:
The fine flow valve is open until the fine flow shutoff
point is reached. The user can either confirm the result or
manually activate follow-on filling up to the target value.
“Manual adding” is displayed during follow-on filling.
– Automatic (factory setting):
The fine flow valve remains open until the lower tolerance
limit is reached.
– Automatic to target value:
The fine flow valve remains open until the target value is
reached. Between the lower tolerance limit and the target
value, “Fine flow active again” is displayed.
– Off:
The filling operation ends when the fine flow shutoff
point has been reached. The message “Underfilling” is
displayed if the product is underfilled.
Optimize Coarse/Fine Flow (only option H4)
This can only be activated if 'Add within tolerance range' is
deactivated.
Automatic optimization of the fine and coarse flow
shutoff points is performed on the basis of previous filling
operations. When this function is active, the fine and coarse
flow shutoff points are adjusted, while the difference
between them remains constant. The optimized shutoff
points are saved in the filling parameters record.
– On:
Optimization is activated.
– Off (factory setting):
Optimization is deactivated.
