Manually raise the platen half way, lower the
can to the press bed, then lower the platen to
the press bed. Lock off and tag out power to
the machine.
Remove the air relief bolt (FIGURES 7 and 8).
Connect a water hose to the Fill valve and fill
the diaphragm.
Close the Fill valve when air stops bubbling
from the air relief hole, then replace bolt.
Check the diaphragm carefully for air and
water leaks. Seal any leaks before proceeding.

After the diaphragm is filled, the bottom of
the diaphragm is flat, and must be shaped into the
proper concave shape before the press is put back
in service. This concave shape is important, in
order to fit the diaphragm into the can properly,
shape the goods during the press cycle (for the most
efficient water extraction), and minimize stress on
press components.
After the diaphragm is full, close the Fill valve
and secure the air relief bolt.
Manually raise the platen and secure with the
safety brackets (FIGURE 1). Lock off and tag
out power to the machine.
Place approximately 130lbs.(60Kg) of damp cotton or polycotton goods in the center of the bed (as
shown in FIGURE 9). It is acceptable to use a previously pressed cake provided it is damp.
Attach a hose to the fill valve (FIGURE 10).
Slowly lower the platen until it comes in contact with the goods.
Stop when the indicated press hydraulic pressure is between 30 and 50 bar.
Open the fill valve (FIGURE 11). Close valve when water stops flowing from hose.
