4. SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS
The purpose of this procedure is to set and formalize criteria for the development of the activities and
tasks of scaffolds assembly and disassembly in the production units.
All activities and tasks of the scaffold assembly/disassembly process are deemed high risk works, since
they are also tasks performed in high locations. Thus, this procedure is directed to all professionals who
exert assembly activity or are users of the access scaffold.
The concern with the scaffold assembly/disassembly process is in assuring to the assembler and his
users, safety and the quality of the structure to be assembled, used and disassembled.
With that concern in mind Mills splits the assembly/disassembly process in a sequence of activities
subdivided into tasks.
4.1. SAFETY, PPE’S AND TOOLS
The use of the basic PPE’s and tools is mandatory in the assembly/disassembly of scaffolds, such
as: Helmet with chinstrap, safety boots with steel toecaps, canvas legging, gloves, goggles, hearing
insertion protector or muffler and safety belt. See the items below.

be carried in key-holders (traps) and be tied with
polypropylene ropes.
