. . . the appliance is switching on too
frequently and for too long.
^
Check whether ventilation gaps in the
plinth and in the housing unit at the
top have been covered over or
become too dusty.
^
The appliance door and the freezer
compartment door have been
opened too frequently, or large
amounts of fresh food have been put
in at once for freezing.
^
Check that the doors have been
closed properly.
^
Check to see whether there is a thick
layer of ice in the freezer
compartment. If there is, defrost the
freezer compartment.
. . . the frozen food is thawing
because the freezer compartment is
too warm.
^
The room temperature is lower than
the ambient temperature for which
the appliance was designed.
Increase the temperature in the room.
Operating in a room which is too cold
will cause the cooling system to switch
off for too long causing the freezer
compartment to become too warm.
. . . nothing is showing in the
temperature display or only a bar is
lit up / flashing.
^
Check that the temperature dial is at
a position between "1" and "4".
^
Check the temperature display about
6 hours after switching on the
appliance. It will only display a
temperature if the temperature inside
the appliance is between 0 °C and 9
°C.
. . . food has frozen together.
Use a blunt instrument, e.g. a spoon
handle or plastic scraper to carefully
prise it apart.
. . . there is a thick layer of ice in the
freezer compartment.
^
Check whether the door to the
freezer compartment closes properly.
^
Defrost and then clean the freezer
compartment.
Too thick a layer of ice reduces
efficiency and increases energy
consumption.
