Symptom:
Ceramic valve (M29) is activated, but its position switch (S60-3) does not detect a new
position within 3 seconds.
Ceramic valve position switch (S60-3) not activated.
Cause:
Ceramic valve (M29) or position switch (S60-3) defective.
Remedy:
1. Check the ceramic valve and position switch in service mode; see Section 001-4.4.
2. If either the ceramic valve or position switch is defective, then replace the ceramic
valve; see Section 001-4.19.
3. Install a new ceramic valve.

F76 - Brew Unit Compression Fault
Symptom:
When preparing beverages using coffee beans, the brew unit is not moving into the
“Press” position; see Section 001-2.3.5. It can, however, move back to the reference
position.
Cause:
Grind amount too high or coffee grounds in brew unit.
Grind amount too high or grind level too coarse.
Remedy:
1. Remove the coffee grounds.
2. Reduce the grind amount; see Section 001-4.1.
3. Adjust the grind level to a finer setting.

F77 - Ceramic Valve (M29) Initialization Fault
Symptom:
Ceramic valve step contact switch (S51-1) not activated. During initialization, the
reference contact is detected multiple times or not at all, OR when approaching or
passing over the reference position the reference contact is not detected or is detected
in an undefined position.
Cause:
Ceramic valve step contact switch (S51-1) or ceramic valve (M29) defective.
Remedy:
1. Check plugs and wires.
2. Replace defective plugs and wires as necessary.
3. Check the ceramic valve and step contact switch in service mode; see Section 001-
4.4.
4. Replace the ceramic valve, if necessary; see Section 001-4.19.

F80 - Heater (R1) Not Heating
Symptom:
Heater temperature not increasing during heat-up stage.
Heater (R1) is activated, but temperature increase is < 1°C within a 35-second interval.
Temperature increasing too slowly within 1 second.
