4.5 Example: ISP connection 

4.5.1 Choose the right encapsulation 

First, you have to choose the right encapsulation: 

PPP over ATM (RFC 

2364)

 or 

PPP over Ethernet (RFC 2516)

4.5.3 Connection to the ISP 

For establishing a connection with ISP, you have to establish the PPP 

connection. 

1. For W2000: Go to 

Network and Dial-Up Connection

For W98/Me, Double-click

2. Double-click the appropriated dial-up connection 

3. Enter your login and password given by your ISP 

 

4. T he ISP verifies your user and password. If they are correct, the data 

connection is established.
