Changing the charging curve in SMC-HF 8000
If, for any reason, the battery charger needs to be readjusted, for instance, when
changing the battery, the following instructions should be followed.
1. Identify the battery type. Flooded or Valve regulated.
2. Identify the battery voltage and the battery capacity C5Ah.
3. Check that the battery charger program is suitable for the new battery. If in doubt,
contact the supplier.

Look up your battery charger in [Charger] and program [PROGRAM] in the “SMC-HF
8000 Micropower standard program” table, see picture 6.
5. Go to the relevant battery type (Flooded [WET], [WET PULSE] or Valve regulated
[DRY]) in the “SMC-HF 8000 Micropower standard program” table, see picture 6.
6. Enter the code number for the relevant battery capacity in accordance with the [Ah]
and [Code no] columns, as per instructions 7-10 below.
7. Disconnect the mains power to the charger and disconnect the battery.
8. Connect the charger to the mains power.
9. Within 30 seconds of connecting the mains power, press and hold the pause button
for 10 seconds. The charger will respond with a short flash from all the lights, and
then show the code for saved program selection, see the “SMC-HF 8000 Micropower
standard program” table, picture 6.
10. Within 30 seconds, press and hold the pause button again for 10 seconds. The
charger will respond with a double flash and show the charging curve that is saved in
the memory.
1. For each short press (<0.5s) of the pause button, the charger moves down one
step in the table to the next charging curve. The lights show the new selection.
2. If you press the pause button longer than (>1.0s), the charger will move up one
step in the table.
3. Once the lights show the required charging curve, press and hold the pause
button again for 10 seconds. The charger will respond by flashing three times and
then display the new code constantly.

In order to return to normal function, disconnect the mains power to the charger
and then reconnect again.
