DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS
The exact charging location depends on the features of the machine. The charging location is orange in
color.
1.12.8. JUMP STARTING THE ENGINE WITH ANOTHER MACHINE OR VEHICLE
Jump starting can be used for starting the engine if the batteries (24 V
DC
) are too weak to start the engine.
For jump starting, you need jumper cables.
For the location of the battery of the machine, see "Charging the battery of Lokotrack unit".
1. Make sure that both machines/vehicles are turned off.
2. Connect one end of the red (positive) jumper cable to the positive terminal on the stalled battery.
3. Connect the other red (positive) cable to the positive terminal of the working battery.
4. Connect one end of the black (negative) jumper cable to the negative terminal of the working battery.
5. Connect the other black (negative) cable to the negative terminal of the stalled battery.
6. Start the engine that is doing the jump starting. Run for two to three minutes before starting the stalled
machine.
7. Remove the cables in reverse order.
8. Keep the jumped engine running for at least 30 minutes to give the battery a sufficient time to
recharge.
1.12.9. STARTING THE ENGINE WITH JUMP STARTER
Follow the jump starter manufacturer’s instructions.
For the location of the battery of the machine, see "Charging the battery of Lokotrack unit".
1. Connect the jump cables to the portable jump starter while it is still in the off position.
If the cables are permanently attached to the unit, you can ignore this step.
2. Connect the positive (red) jumper clamp to the positive terminal of the vehicle’s battery and the
negative (black) clamp to the negative terminal of the stalled battery.
Make sure that the clamps are properly connected so that when the vehicle starts, they are not
shaken loose and possibly lead to the cables touching each other and shorting the jump starter.
3. Turn the jump starter on.
4. Turn on the ignition and try to start the vehicle.
If the engine does not start immediately, do not crank the engine for more than about five seconds.
Pushing the jump starter to crank your engine for longer periods can cause overheating and damage
the battery of the device. Allow 2-3 minutes between 5 second attempts to allow the battery bank of
the jump starter to cool down, and also for the voltage to recover.
5. After the engine has started, switch the jump starter off.
6. Remove the negative jumper cable, and then remove the positive cable.
1.12.10. CHECKING THE FUEL LEVEL
If the fuel level is low, a message “W54: Fuel level low“ is displayed in the message field on the top left
corner of the main control panel display.
1. Check the fuel level from the Message field (1) of main control panel display. Another way is to tap
Information views (2), and then tap Engine information (3) and check the value (4).
If there is no fuel, or the fuel level is very low, refill. Make sure that no dust or dirt enters the fuel tank
through the refill opening
