Differential Case and Ring Gear from the 
Carrier

 

NOTE:  

 

Before working on the differential carrier, 

inspect the gear set for damage. If the gear set is 
not damaged, it can be reused. Measure the 
backlash of the gear set and record the dimension.

Remove the cotter pins from the side gear 
adjusting rings.

Remove the differential bearing cap capscrews 
and the cap.

Remove the differential adjusting ring and 
bearing cup from bolted-on bearing cap side.

Remove the differential assembly from the 
carrier and place it onto a workbench.

5.

Remove the differential adjusting ring and 
bearing cup from integral bearing cap side.

 

Drive Pinion from the Carrier

 

1.

Fasten a yoke bar onto the yoke to hold 
the yoke when you remove the locknut.
