Function of ESP
®
Crosswind Assist
ESP ® Crosswind Assist detects sudden gusts of
side wind and helps the driver to keep the vehi‐
cle in the lane:
R
ESP
®
Crosswind Assist is active at vehicle
speeds between approx. 47 mph (75 km/h)
and 125 mph (200 km/h) when driving
straight ahead or cornering slightly.
R
The vehicle is stabilized by means of individ‐
ual brake application on one side.

ESP ® can only be activated/deactivated
using quick access when at least one other
function is available in quick access. ESP ®
can otherwise be found in the Assistance
menu.

ESP ® is deactivated if the å ESP ® OFF warn‐
ing lamp lights up continuously in the instrument
cluster.
Observe any information on warning lamps and
display messages which may be shown in the
instrument cluster.
Function of EBD
Electronic Breakforce Distribution (EBD) is char‐
acterized by the following:
R
Monitoring and regulating the brake pressure
on the rear wheels.
R
Improved driving stability when braking,
especially on bends.
Function of STEER CONTROL
STEER CONTROL assists you by transmitting a
noticeable steering force to the steering wheel in
the direction required for vehicle stabilization.
This steering recommendation is given in the fol‐
lowing situations:
R
Both right wheels or both left wheels are on
a wet or slippery road surface when you
brake
R
The vehicle starts to skid
System limits
STEER CONTROL may be impaired or may not
function in the following situations:
R
ESP ® is deactivated.
R
ESP
®
is malfunctioning.
R
The steering is malfunctioning.
If ESP
®
is malfunctioning, you will be assisted
further by the electric power steering.
