Electromagnetic viscous coupling

The electromagnetic viscous coupling (2) is
located between the fan wheel (1) and the
engine.

Task

The electromagnetic viscous coupling (2) regulates the fan wheel
(1) speed on a need basis when requested to do so by the engine
management (MCM) control unit (A4). The actuation that is
dependent on the engine operating condition, as well as external
factors such as, e.g. the charge air temperature, reduces fuel
consumption.
