Switch off the ignition and turn it back on.

To apply:

Release and then apply the electric parking brake manually (

page 156).

To release:

Apply and then release the electric parking brake manually.

If the electric parking brake cannot be applied or the red

(USA only) or

(Canada only) indicator lamp

continues to flash:

Do not continue driving under any circumstances. Consult a qualified specialist workshop.

Where necessary, also secure the parked vehicle against rolling away.

* The yellow

indicator lamp is on and the red

indicator lamp (USA only) or

indicator lamp (Can‐

ada only) flashes for approximately ten seconds after the electric parking brake has been applied or released. It

then remains lit or goes out. The electric parking brake is malfunctioning.
If the battery charge level is too low:

Charge the battery.

To apply:

Switch the ignition off.

The electric parking brake is applied automatically.
