Radio
FM Reception
FM signals travel in a “ line-of-
s ig h t” . Reflections or “ dead spots”
may cause cancellations or loss of
the signal as well as strong signal
overloading or capture.
Lowering the antenna height in
strong signal areas may elim inate
many of the resulting problems and
restore clarity. However, fringe area
reception requires the fu ll antenna
fully extended to receive weak in
coming signals. The antenna can be
operated by depressing the respec
tive side of the rocker switch.
FM Stereo Reception
If an FM stereo station is tuned in,
the red Stereo Indicator Lamp w ill
come on. Good quality stereo recep
tion, however, is possible only in
areas of high field intensity.
Accurate tuning to the strongest
available stereo stations is of parti
cular im portance fo r fringe area
reception.
Your radio is fitted with a co nti
nuously operating Stereo Decoder
which autom atically switches the
radio from stereo to mono reception
if the signal becomes too weak. The
Stereo Indicator Lamp remains lit. If
the signals of the station tuned in
become too weak, the Stereo Indica
to r Lamp goes out.
The radio w ill return to stereo mode
autom atically when signal strength
permits.
Tape Playback
Insert cassette (side 1 pointing up
wards) into cassette slot and push in
to the stop. The radio w ill then
switch over from radio reception to
tape playback.
If one side of the tape is finished the
player changes over to the other
side of the tape autom atically
(continuous operation).
If tape sides are to be changed while
playing, push track changeover but
ton (10).
Track indicator (9) indicates the tape
side being played.
To manually eject the cassette, push
release bar (6). When the cassette is
ejected, the unit w ill switch over to
radio reception automatically.
Push button 7 or 8 fo r fast forward or
rewind o fth e ta p e . Briefly touching
the counteracting button w ill stop
the rewinding process.
Care of the Tape Player
Use only good quality cassettes
with a m aximum playing time of
45 minutes per side (C 90). “ Un
w ou nd ” tapes can be fixed by
rew inding either reel with a pencil
inserted in its hub. The pick-up head
and roller should be cleaned occa
sionally to maintain the original high
quality sound reproduction.
