Im proper work on the system,
including incorrect installation
and removal, can lead to pos
sible injury through an uncon
trolled activation of the “SRS”.
In addition, through improper
work there is the risk of render
ing the “SRS” inoperative. Work
on the “SRS” must therefore
only be performed by an author
ized MERCEDES-BENZ dealer.
• When scrapping the air bag unit
or emergency tensioning retrac
tor, it is mandatory to follow our
safety instructions. These in
structions are available at your
authorized MERCEDES-BENZ
dealer.
When you sell the vehicle we strongly
urge you to give notice to the sub
sequent owner that it is equipped with
an “ SRS” by alerting him to the appli
cable section in the O w ner’s Manual.
Infant and Child Restraint Systems
Mercedes-Benz of North America re
comm ends that all infants and children
be restrained at all times while the ve
hicle is in motion.
Important!
The use of infant or child restraints is
required by law in all 50 states and
Canadian provinces.
Infants and small children should be
seated in an infant or child restraint
system, which is properly secured by
a lap belt or lap belt portion of a lap-
shoulder belt, and that complies with
U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety
Standard 213. A statement by the seat
m anufacturer of compliance with this
standard can be found on the instruc
tion label on the restraint and in the in
struction manual provided with the
restraint.
W hen using any infant or child re
straint system, be sure to carefully
read and follow all m anufacturer’s in
structions on installation and use.
W arning!
Infants and small children should
never be held on the lap, nor
should they share a seat belt with
another occupant while the vehicle
is in motion.
Children are safer when properly
restrained in the rear seating posi
tions than in the front seating posi
tions.
Children too big for child restraint
systems should ride in rear seats
using regular seat belts. A shoulder
belt can be used, providing it does
not cross the face or neck of a
child.
This vehicle is equipped with tether
anchorages for use with child re
straints that have a top tether strap.
Consult your authorized MERCEDES-
BENZ dealer for the exact location of
these anchorages.
