Risk of damage of the product
Only use the specified type of battery /
rechargeable battery!
Insert batteries / rechargeable batteries accord-
ing to polarity marks (+) and (-) on the battery /
rechargeable battery and the product.
Clean the contacts on the battery / rechargea-
ble battery and in the battery compartment
before inserting!
Remove exhausted batteries / rechargeable
batteries from the product immediately.
Functioning
The solar panel

installed in the product con-
verts sunlight into electrical energy and stores it in
the rechargeable battery.
The product will automatically light on as it begins
to get dark. The LEDs are a very long-life and ener-
gy-saving light source. The light duration depends on
the amount of sunlight, the angle of light on the so-
lar panel

and the temperature (the rechargeable
battery capacity is temperature-dependent). A verti-
cal angle of light at temperatures above the freezing
point is ideal. The rechargeable battery does not
achieve maximum capacity until after several
charge and discharge cycles.
In summer a completely drained rechargeable
battery takes about 2 to 4 days to fully recharge
in constant sunlight.
Installation (see Fig)

if this has not been pre-installed.

for enough into the
ground (lawn, flower bed) so it is firmly posi-
tioned upright in the ground.
4. Make sure it is firmly positioned. Do not use
any force when assembling or setting up the
product, e.g. hammer blows. This will damage
the product. For optimal results, set up the
product in a location where the solar panel

is exposed to sunlight for the longest
possible amount of time. Do not put the product
under bushes, trees, canopies etc. as this
reduces the incidence of incoming sunlight.
Position the product in such a way that the
solar panel

is not covered or in the shade.
Note:
Make sure the solar panel is not im-
pacted by other light sources, e.g. yard- or
street lighting, or the product will not switch
on at twilight.
Switching the product
1. Switch the ON / OFF switch

position to switch the product on. The product
will automatically switch on or off at twilight.
2. Switch the ON / OFF switch

position again to switch the product off.
Replacing the
rechargeable battery
Note:
For this step, you will need a cross head
screwdriver.
1. Remove the solar panel housing

before removing or inserting

3. Open the battery compartment cover

the bottom of the solar panel housing

do so, unscrew all screws

using a cross head screwdriver.
4. Take out the used or exhausted rechargeable
battery

5. Insert a Ni-MH, AA, 1.2 V / 600 mAh
rechargeable battery

in to the battery
compartment

turn all screws
