2). Make sure cam handle (3) is
aligned in the center of the slot of
retainer (8)
3). Make sure lock ring (6) is fully
outside the bottom surface of
pitchcase (9).
(f). The force required to turn cam
handle (3), before the bushings
expand, cannot be more than
5 lb
(2.27 kg) .
1). If the initial force is more than 5 lb
(2.27 kg) , loosen adjustment nut
(5) by one nut flat.
2). Do steps (e). and (f). again until
the initial force is less than 5 lb
(2.27 kg) .
3). If the required force is more than
the specified limit, replace blade
retention bolt (1).
(g). If necessary, move main rotor blade
(11) to let guide pin tool (T920) (12)
move freely in the lag hole installa­
tion.
(h). Do steps (b). thru (f). again for the
lag hole installation.
NOTE:
It can take 10 to 15 taps before the
bushings and collets release.
(i). Lightly tap both sides of the cam
head of the lead blade retention bolt
(1) with a rubber mallet or equival­
ent to loosen its bushings and collets.
NOTE:
Do not remove or loosen blade retention
bolt (1) in the lead hole installation.
Make sure the blade is held
level during the installation
of the spring clip. If the blade is not
held level, the bushings of the blade re­
tention bolt will not expand equally.
Keep the bolt holes of retainer
(8), pitchcase (9), flexbeam (10),
and main rotor blade (11) in alignment as
you apply force. A misalignment during
installation can damage a blade retention
bolt.
NOTE:
Force F is when spring clip (4) has
pushed across the bolt end, just before full
engagement with adjustment nut (5).
(j). Adjust the expandable diameter of
lead blade retention bolt (1) with
adjustment nut (5) until the Force F
necessary to close cam handle (3) is
65 to 115 lb (29.48 to 52.16 kg) as
you keep the bolt holes aligned.
NOTE:
A high force value in the specified limit
is recommended.
1). If Force F is more than 115 lb
(52.16 kg) , stop the procedure.
a). Lightly tap both sides of the cam
head with a rubber mallet or
equivalent to loosen its bushings
and collets.
b). Loosen adjustment nut (5) by
one nut flat.
c). Continue the procedure until
Force F is 65 to 115 lb (29.48 to
52.16 kg) .
2). If Force F is less than 65 lb (29.48
kg) , stop the procedure.
a). Lightly tap both sides of the cam
head with a rubber mallet or
equivalent to loosen its bushings
and collets.
b). Tighten adjustment nut (5) by
one nut flat.
c). Continue the procedure until
Force F is 65 to 115 lb (29.48 to
52.16 kg) .
3). Record the final installation force.
