When to reprogram 

The PLB should be reprogrammed in the following situations: 

  Where the information is absent or needs to be changed 

  Whenever there is any doubt about what is programmed into the PLB 

  When the PLB is transferred to a new owner (depends on country and regulations 

– sometimes only re-registration is required.) 

 

Programming the PLB 

The FPROG kit contains all parts required, including a disk-based handbook giving full 
instructions for the process. These instructions are not repeated here. Service agents are 
expected to have a programming kit. 
 

IMPORTANT 

The following actions must be performed when a PLB is re-programmed: 

1.  Verify correct programming using a message reader. See section 3.3. 

2.  Print a new registration form (at the PC) and pass it to the PLB owner. 

3.  (If applicable) Fit a new identity label to the PLB; stick the duplicate label inside the 

user manual if possible, otherwise ensure it is given to the PLB owner.
