WARNING: Never dispose of batteries in a fire.
The batteries may explode
when exposed to high heat or exposed to flame.
•
WARNING:
Do not open or mutilate batteries.
Released electrolyte is
harmful to the skin and eyes, and may be toxic. If acid is spilled or spread on
the skin or eyes, flush with fresh water and contact a physician immediately.
•
CAUTION: Risk of electric shock.
Batteries can present a risk of electrical
shock and high short circuit current. The following precautions should always
be observed when working on batteries:
a)
Remove watches, rings, or other metal objects.
b)
Use tools with insulated handles.
c)
Wear rubber gloves and boots.
d)
Wear eye protection.
e)
Do not lay tools or metal parts on top of the UPS or battery terminals.
f)
Disconnect charging source prior to connecting or disconnecting battery
terminals.
g)
Determine if battery is inadvertently grounded. If inadvertently grounded,
remove source from ground. Contact with any part of a grounded battery
can result in electrical shock. The likelihood of such shock can be reduced
if such grounds are removed during installation and maintenance
(applicable to equipment and remote battery supplies not having a
grounded supply circuit).
•
Overcharging, overheating, or other misuse of batteries can result in
discharge of battery electrolyte. Released electrolyte is harmful to the skin
and eyes, and may be toxic.
•
If the UPS is defective, disconnect the internal battery before storage,
disposal, or transportation.
•
Proper disposal of batteries is required. Contact your local battery recycling
center or refer to your local codes for disposal requirements.
