Cable Splicing (480 volt –
1 Hour only)
Splicing should be avoided with this construc-
tion type since the impervious nature of the
armor can be compromised. Continuous lengths
are best. If splices are used, they should be
rated for the environment. A fire rated splice or
system is required in a fire rated area. For non-
fire rated areas, a box may be used with an
approved splicing system. Please call the RSCC
Engineering Depart ment for additional informa-
tion and to request the following publications in
pdf format:

Cable Test
After installation and prior to energizing, insu-
lated cable should be tested in accordance with
established procedures. All measurement and
test equipment should be calibrated.
