Feature Overview
Ground Connection
There is a grounding stud on the back of the unit, which acts as a protective earth terminal (where
required). You can also use it as an ESD ground terminal when servicing the unit.
Grounding Method
The preferred grounding method, described here, is to connect a ground wire between
the NVR unit and an earth ground source.
•
Prepare an earth ground wire using a proper ground wire and a solderless ring connector: strip
off a 1/2 inch of insulation from the end of the wire, then crimp the ring connector onto the wire.
•
Connect the ground wire to the NVR ground stud by applying the parts in the order
shown in the illustration below.
•
Connect the other end of the ground wire to an earth ground source.
•
Verify that the earth ground connection complies with your local regulations and codes.
Note:
You can use the grounding stud to ground yourself to the NVR chassis with an anti-static
wrist strap (only if the NVR has been properly grounded as outlined above). This is useful when you
are working inside the NVR and must ensure that anti-static precautions are taken.
