Preventive Maintenance Procedures

The benefits of a regularly scheduled preventive mainte-
nance program can never be over-estimated. Equipment
which is properly maintained operates more efficiently,
extends service life and reduces operating costs. A proper-
ly managed preventive maintenance program will minimize
downtime and its attendant costs before they occur, allow-
ing you to be your most productive.

Important factors to be considered when planning a pre-
ventive maintenance program include the proper selection,
handling and application of lubricants, spare replacement
parts and the general cleaning and appearance of the
equipment. Equally important is the creation of a preventive
maintenance history for each piece of equipment in your
shop. Documentation of preventive maintenance proce-
dures performed on your equipment can prove invaluable
for future reference.

The following information is provided for the preventive
maintenance of your new Chameleon.

Daily
D1
. Remove any lint and ink which may have accumulated
on any part of the press and its moving mechanisms.

D2. Clean pallet surfaces with mineral spirits.

Weekly
W1
. Check all nuts, bolts and fasteners to be sure that they
are properly tightened.

W2. Check and adjust as required, the eccentric bearings
which control the side to side movement of the screen
frame holders when in the printing position. When the
screen frame is in the lowered or print position and locked
into the eccentric bearings, you should not be able to roll
either of the bearings with normal finger pressure.

Should the eccentric bearings require adjustment, use a
1/8” allen wrench to loosen the lock screw on the side of the
eccentric bearing mounting bracket.

Now use a 9/16” open end wrench to slightly turn the
eccentric bearing in towards the locking pin to achieve
proper contact. NOTE: Only the eccentric bearing on the
right side may be adjusted
. This is only a slight adjust-
ment. Over tightening of the eccentric bearings can result in
premature failure of the roller bearing race requiring replace-
ment of the entire roller bearing.
