CLEARANCES

The minimum clearance to any combustible item in front of this appliance should be no less
than 36 inches from the face of the fireplace in which this appliance is installed.
Any  combustible  mantel  present  on  the  fireplace  facing  of  any  fireplace  in  which  this
appliance is installed must not extend more than 12 inches from the face of the fireplace.
Also, the combustible mantel must be at least 28 inches above the fireplace opening as
shown in Figure 2 unless a CABL/CABR fireplace canopy is installed as described.
If a combustible mantel is less than 28 inches above the fireplace opening of any fireplace
in  which  this  appliance  is  installed,  obtain  a  CABL/CABR  fireplace  canopy  from  your
appliance dealer and install it on the fireplace according to the instructions furnished with
the CABL/CABR fireplace canopy. For any fireplace in which this appliance and canopy
are  both  installed,  the  mantel  extensions  and  corresponding  mantel  clearances  are  as
shown in Figure 2. The mantel must lie in or above the dashed line shown in Figure 2. (The
mantel extension is the distance the mantel extends from the fireplace facing. The mantel
clearance is the distance from the fireplace opening to the bottom of the mantel.)
Any other combustible or noncombustible extension or trim extending from the fireplace
facing of any fireplace in which this appliance is installed must comply with (1) local codes
or, in the absence of local codes, with the latest edition of ANSI/NFPA 211 if the fireplace
is an at-site masonry solid-fuel burning fireplace, or (2) the instructions provided by the
fireplace  manufacturer  if  the  fireplace  is  a  prefabricated  factory-built  solid-fuel  burning
fireplace or is a listed ventless firebox enclosure.
