IMPORTANT
Read these instructions carefully before installing or trying to operate this vent-free gas heater.
DANGER
This appliance, as any gas-fired appliance, can produce poisonous carbon monoxide along with other
combustion products. Carbon monoxide, in strong concentrations, can cause sickness, serious personal
injury and death.
Early signs of carbon monoxide poisoning may resemble the flue with head-aches, dizziness and/or
nausea. If you have these signs, the appliance may not be working properly. Get fresh air at once!
Immediately have appliance serviced by a qualified technician.
Some people (pregnant women, persons with heart or lung disease, anemia, those under the influence
of alcohol, those at high altitudes) are more affected by carbon monoxide than others.
DANGER
Operation of this appliance on gases for which
it is not equipped may lead to carbon monoxide
poisoning.
WARNING
This appliance cannot be converted to a gas
other than the type for which it is equipped at
the factory.
WARNING
Any change to this appliance or its controls can
be dangerous.
NOTE:
An unvented room appliance is an unvented,
self-contained, gas burning appliance for connection to
the house fuel supply system and for furnishing heat to
the space in which installed directly from the appliance
without duct connection.
IMPORTANT:
When installed as an unvented room
heater, this appliance is to be used as a supplemental
heat source only. Do not use this appliance as a primary
heat source.
This appliance shall not be installed in a confined space
or unusually tight construction unless provisions are
provided for adequate combustion and ventilation air.
When properly installed, used and maintained, this
appliance should not produce carbon monoxide in
dangerous quantities. However, since carbon monoxide
can be deadly poisonous, the installer and all users of
this appliance should read and follow these instructions
carefully.
The type of gas for which this appliance is equipped is
marked on the rating label attached to the appliance.
"NAT" is natural gas; "LP" is propane or propane butane
mixture gas.
DANGER
Do not install this appliance in any area where
gasoline or any combustible or explosive
material will be used or stored. The flame in
this appliance is not isolated from the air space
it heats and it will ignite flammable vapors, dust
particles or other combustible materials that
come in contact with it which can result in an
explosion or fire.
Gaseous fuels are highly explosive in certain
concentrations and are very flammable. Any gas leaks
in the plumbing supplying gas to this appliance can lead
to fire or explosion.
Sufficient space must be provided around this appliance
to provide air for combustion and ventilation and to allow
room for servicing. To provide the required spacing;
do not install this appliance in any solid-fuel burning
fireplace with any dimension smaller than shown by
Table 1.
This appliance is for installation only in a solid-fuel
burning masonry fireplace or a UL 127 factory-built
fireplace or a listed ventless firebox enclosure as
specified within this manual. This appliance has been
design certified for these installations. Exception: DO
NOT install this appliance in a factory-built fireplace that
includes instructions stating the factory-built fireplace
has not been tested with, or should not be used with,
unvented gas log appliances.
