Winter operation
If you intend to operate the MT at low temperatures, a few
precautionary measures and checks are necessary.
z
Have the concentration of corrosion protection and anti-
freeze agents in the engine coolant checked.
z
Add anti-freeze agent to the windscreen washer water.
z Have the battery checked.

Operating materials
The operating materials in the MT must be adapted for low
temperatures before the cold season arrives.
z Use winter diesel or add a flow-enhancing additive to the
fuel. This prevents coagulation of paraffin in the fuel that
would reduce or block the fuel supply.
z
Use a motor oil that is suitable for the ambient
temperatures. Oil should be changed by qualified
technicians.
z The engine coolant in the engine has to contain enough
anti-freeze agent to prevent the engine coolant from
freezing. Have the anti-freeze level in the engine coolant
checked by qualified technicians and refill as needed.
z Add anti-freeze agent to the windscreen washer to prevent
the washing liquid from freezing.
z Apply glycerine to all rubber parts, rubber door seals for
example, to prevent them freezing together.
z Treat the door lock with a commercially available anti-
freeze agent. This is especially important if you wash the
MT at low temperatures and water enters the door lock.
