The difference in compaction of the trench causes a damping of the measured signal. 
A local secondary extremum is found above the pipe. 
 

Note : 

The presentation of these particular cases aims to help the operator do a very precise locating of the 
desired pipe (+/- 15 cm in XY). 
If you only consider the extremum as the locating of the pipeline (without performing a finer
