Measurements should be regulary monitored with positive and
negative control solutions (Medi‑Test Control, REF 93038).
17.3 Error messages
NOTICE
If any of the problems persist, contact your local
MACHEREY‑NAGEL representative.
The instrument has several error codes which are displayed in case
specific problems occur. All error codes are displayed as a number
in the touch screen. Measurements with an error will be stored in
the instruments memory including the respective error code.
The following table lists the existing error codes, probable causes
and possible corrective activities:

Check that the used test strips are not bent.
E‑04 Dry strip Some parameters were detected to be off limit, which may indicate (partially) dry test pads
→
dip all test pads into the sample completely
E‑06 Communication error A connected device cannot work with the instrument’s data protocol (only bi‑directional communication)
→
only connect external devices that can communicate with the instrument
→
adjust the hardware settings
E‑07 Strip not aligned Strip is not parallel to the side of the transport tray
→
insert strip carefully
→
do not insert strip while transport rack is moving and the light is red
→
empty the waste container, which may cause jams if it is full
→
do not move transport tray during measurements
→
make sure the transport rack is placed correctly on the transport plate
E‑08 Ref‑Pad Error Wrong reference pad value
→
turn the instrument off and on again
→
perform internal check
→
make a control measurement and check the result’s accuracy
E‑09 External light source Stray light is causing problems during measurement
→
re‑position the instrument so it is not exposed to direct sunlight or very bright light sources
E‑11 Mechanical error Mechanical resistance or a foreign object are disturbing the measurement
→
turn off the instrument, remove transport tray and carefully remove any objects obstructing the mechanics
→
do not move the transport tray during measurements
E‑13 Waste container is full Too many strips are in the waste container
→
remove transport tray and empty waste container
Transport tray

removed The instrument has
been switched of during
transport rack movement. Switch on the instrument and wait until the self test is finished. The transport tray can now be removed again.
