MODBUS RTU CONTROLLER OPTION

Overview

Modbus Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) protocol provides a common data

exchange format for connecting external sensors and controls to a master

control device. This serial communication format allows field devices to act as a

slave device on a data link that is normally shared with other slave devices that

employ the Modbus RTU protocol. The MAC155 is capable of remote operation

via an RS-485 serial communications using Modbus RTU protocol.

To implement Modbus Communications a device address must be specified

that will allow the master to identify the MAC155 during communications.

The baud rate of the RS-485 serial communications must be set to the

common baud rate of the master.

Modbus Setup

The baud rate and slave number must be configured for correct Modbus

communications. The Baud rate and slave number are set using the setup

menu. Navigation instructions to the MAC155 setup menu and corresponding

Modbus setup menu can be found in the

CONTROLLER MENU NAVIGATION

section.

The default Baud Rate is 9600 and the default slave is 01

Modbus Coil & Register Data

The MAC155 employs the use of coils 1 - 8 for the inputs to the controller.

Controller Inputs

During normal operation coils 1-8 are read and saved as an 8bit Word. For

best result use “

setting the appropriate

address locations as shown in following table to place the unit into the desired

mode.

Only

one input can be active at a time.
