The interconnection and filter panel is divided into six segments. They are labeled
A-through-F and each interface is described as follows:

A
- SECTION OW (LOC OW) LINE (1W) and LINE (1E):
These connectors
provide an interface that allows an orderwire set access to the section
orderwire (E1 byte) for voice communications (local orderwire). For more
information about the orderwire interface, refer to Volume I, Section 6,
"Operations Interfaces."

B
- LINE OW (EXP OW) LINE (1W) and LINE (1E):
These connectors
provide an interface that allows an orderwire set access to the line
orderwire (E2 byte) for voice communications (express orderwire). For
more information about the orderwire interface, refer to Volume I,
Section 6, "Operations Interfaces."

C
- LINE GROWTH CHAN LINE (1W) and LINE (1E):
These connectors
provide an interface that allows access to the line growth channel (Z1 and
Z2 bytes) of the OC-48 high-speed lines. These connectors are reserved
for use in a future release.

D
- SECTION USER CHAN LINE (1W) and LINE (1E):
These connectors
provide an interface that allows access to the section user channel (F1
byte) of the service and protection OC-48 high-speed lines. These
connectors are reserved for use in a future release.

E
- INTRAOFFICE LAN:
This connector is reserved for use in a future
release.

F - This connector provides an interface to the
−
48 V power filters on the
filter panel. This is a factory-wired connection.
Except for power, all the cabling entering the interconnection panel is
connectorized with D-subminiature connectors. The power cables are connected
to RF filters on the interconnection panel using push-on type connectors.
Fan Assembly 3
The fan assembly is located in the bottom of the D-Bay. It consists of three six-
inch fans. The fan controller senses the incoming air temperature and provides a
signal enabling the fans to operate at different speeds. Cooling air is taken in from
the bottom front of the bay. It passes through a user-replaceable air filter and is
forced up through all four shelves and exhausted through a top rear grill.
NOTE:
Normally, the fans will be operating at medium speed. However, with a
higher ambient air temperature the fans will operate at high-speed. These
modes of operation should result in increased fan life and reduced
operating noise.
