This time the NOT block will go
on again and so the whole
thing starts again. The result
is a flashing circuit that will go
on for ever - or until the
batteries run down.
We can use this flashing
circuit to drive some
traffic lights as shown. In
this case we have slowed the
whole system down by adding
in the DELAY (Long) too.
This is a simple example of
feed-back where the signal is
going around in a closed loop.
FEED-BACK & AUTOMATION
➊
FLASHING CIRCUIT
Put together the Logiblocs as shown.
As soon as you join the last Logibloc together to make the
complete circle, the lights will begin to flash!
To understand what is happening you need to
think what is happening to the signal as it
travels around the circle.
31
It sets off around the circle until it
reaches the NOT block. Because the
NOT always does the opposite of
what it is told, it will then switch itself
off. Of course, all the Logiblocs
beyond it will also go off. Notice
how the DELAY (2-Way) takes about
one second to go off too.
