1.3.2 Tube collector If vacuum tube collectors are used this option is to
be activated. To receive correct measured values,
the pump must be switched on briefly. The pump
can be started time- and/or temperature-con-
trolled. Press >ESC<. Select >Holiday function<.
Press >OK<.
1.3.3 Holiday funct…. With this function the controller will adapt con-
trol of the specified period so that overheating
of the plant is prevented. Enter the holiday pe-
riod. Press >ESC<. >Delta T control< or >Fixed
T control< will appear according to settings
made in professional mode. Press >OK<.
1.3.5 dT control Activation of the solar pump depends on the
temperature difference between collector and
tank bottom. The parameters can be changed
here. The factory settings can be used for al-
most all plants. Ask a fitter before making any
changes. Press >ESC< twice. If an additional
heat source is installed select >Post Heating
Requ.<. Press >OK<.
1.3.6 Fixed temp.c… The fixed collector temperature is kept by
controlling the pump speed. The factory set-
tings can be used for almost all plants. Ask a
fitter before making any changes. Press >ESC<
twice. If an additional heat source is connected
select >Post Heating Requ.<. Press >OK<.
1.3.10 Post heatin…
The additional heat source can be activated.
Set the time blocks, temperatures, starting/
end times and time periods. Press >ESC< three
times. Select >Efficiency functions<. Press
>OK<.
1.4 Efficiency funct… >Disable recharge< appears. Press >OK<. If
the additional heat source is connected, this
function can be activated. To this effect the
fitter must have made the appropriate pre-
settings. Activate the time-controlled >Activ.
time progr.< disable recharge or temperature-
controlled >Activation T min< or both. Press
>ESC< twice. Select >Protective funct.<.
Press >OK<.
1.5 Protective funct. Select >Collector defrost.<. Press >OK<.
1.5.2 Defrosting
>Defrosting< can be used to heat frozen collec-
tors. At the same time the tank is cooled! This
is a one-time action which can be repeated as
required. Press >ESC<. Select >Tank cooling<.
Press >OK<.
1.5.5 Cooling funct. This option must be activated if, during a heat
wave, the heat input exceeds the energy with-
drawal. In this case the tank is cooled via the
collectors, e.g. at night. Press >ESC<. Select
>Soft charge<. Press >OK<.
1.5.6 Soft charge This option should be activated if an extended
spell of hot, sunny weather is to be expected.
Thus the heat input into the tank is reduced. Press
>ESC< twice. Select >Monitoring<. Press >OK<.
1.6 Monitoring
Here the error list can be called up. Press >OK<.
1.1.5 Error list
If an error is indicated, check the error by press-
ing >OK<. Press >ESC< twice. Select >Login<.
Press >OK<.
1.7 Login
Here the fitter can enter his/her access code
to perform further settings and changes. Press
>ESC<. Select >About smartSol<. Press >OK<.
1.9 About
The software and hardware version of the control-
ler, the serial number and the date of commission-
ing appear.
If no entry is made within the preset time, 30 –
255 sec, or by pressing >ESC< twice, the display
will return to automatic mode.
Malfunction
The screen on top right shows the red Attention triangle which
points out a notification or an operating malfunction. Press >OK<.
1.10 Service Wizard
If >Safety function< appears in the display, this is a message, no mal-
function. In this case there is no deficiency but limits have been ex-
ceeded. The controller indicates that a protective function has been
triggered.
The message is only active until normal operation has been restored.
The SmartSol communicates malfunction processes in plain text.
The Service Wizard indicates the possible causes of malfunctions on
the basis of the detected symptoms and thus supports immediate de-
tection of deficiencies.
For example >MO2: Breakage of sensor on TS1< appears. Select
>Next.<. Press >OK<.
The Service Wizard helps detect possible causes of malfunctions.
>Possible reasons: >Cable/connection< or >Sensor<. Select a cause
by pressing >OK<. Select >Exit<. Press >OK<.
The Service Wizard provides the trouble-shooting instructions. Press
>Next< to go through all check-points.
Finally the repair information appears. Perform the appropriate repair
work. Press >Exit< to leave the Service Wizard.
After elimination of the malfunction, the plant screen without the
red >Attention< triangle appears again on the display and automatic
mode is continued.
Professional mode
Important!
In professional mode, settings are made which require
detailed knowledge of the heating and solar plant. If a single pa-
rameter is changed, this may affect the safety, functions and ef-
ficiency of the entire plant!
Press >OK< - Scroll to >Login< in >1 Main menu < - Press >OK<.
1.7 Login
>Access code 1<. Press >OK< twice. Scroll to
>Factory settings<. Press >OK<. Scroll to >350<.
Press >OK<. Rotate to >365< which is the access
code to professional mode. Press >OK<. Press
>ESC< twice. In >1 Main menu< the screen shows
a list of sub-items as in operation mode. Scroll to
>Evaluation<. Press >OK<.
1.1 Evaluation
In menu item >1.1 Evalution<, enhanced setting
options for the operation mode are only available
in sub-item >1.1.4 Heat quantities<. Select >Heat
quantities<. Press >OK<.
1.1.4 Heat quantities Select >Heat gty. 1<. Press >OK<.
1.1.4.1 Heat qty. 1 Scroll to >Max. rate<. Press >OK<. Set the max.
pump flow rate according to the flowmeter. Press
>OK<. Press >ESC< twice. Continue with >Set-
tings<. Press >OK<. Select >Temp.limitation<.
Press >OK<.
1.2.3 Temp.limitation If the temperature in the tank exceeds the value
>T limit< the solar pump is switched off uncon-
ditionally. The tank temperature can be set up to
95°C. The pump is not switched on again until
the actual temperature falls below the value >T
limit by the hysteresis >Hyst<. Example: T limit =
95°C, hysteresis = 5K. Reclosing temperature =
95°C – 5°C = 90°C. Press >ESC<. Select >Max.
temp.shutoff.<. Press >OK<.
1.2.5 Max.temp.sh… Maximum temperature of the tank to avoid ex-
cessively hot water in the tank. The tank is only
charged to >T max.tank<. In case of collector over-
heating, the tank can be charged up to >T limit<.
The value >T max.tank< depends on >T limit<. >T
max.tank< must be below >T limit<. Press >ESC<.
Select >Min.temperature<. Press >OK<.
