Working with
Metadata on the
LU600
This chapter describes how Metadata is treated within the LiveU ecosystem, and more
specifically, how to set up your LU600 to support correct metadata transfer from field to
studio. For more information on how Metadata is handled by LiveU Central, please refer to
appropriate chapter in the LiveU Central User Guide.
Metadata Overview
LiveU supports the IPCT’s NewsML-G2 format for Metadata, from the field unit through to
the MMH. From the IPCT’s website: “NewsML-G2 is the cost-effective way of managing
news, whether for a news provider, web site, news aggregator, newspaper or television
station”. When properly integrated, NRCS (News Room Control Systems) like ENPS and
iNews can use this XML Metadata as part of their workflow.
With Metadata enabled on the LU600, every Live session, Store & Forward session, or file
transfer is accompanied by an XML file that contains information pertinent to the session.
This XML file consists of static (locally or remotely edited fields) data, and dynamic (time,
location, video format etc.) data. The XML file is sent from the LU600 as part of the session
and is saved for later referral and use on the MMH.
Metadata operation on the LU600
The LU600 contains interface elements that support LiveU’s implementation of Metadata as
described above.
