OPERATION
NOTE:
When using the TE-5.5-MDQ-SC for aquarium biological
filter applications, refer to the instructions and owners manual
supplied by the filter manufacturer.
1. Use a thread sealer on all pipe connections and hand tighten
only.
2. The pump is not self priming. Ensure that the volute intake is
below the water level.
3. The pump is not submersible. Operate the pump only in the
in-line mode. DO NOT put the unit in liquid. Pump should
be located in a well ventilated area and away from where
accidental water spillage would cause wetting of the pump.
4. Support the weight of the pump adequately. DO NOT support
the pump by the intake and discharge connections alone.
5. Do not allow the pump to run dry (without liquid). This will
cause excessive heating and will damage the pump.
6. Do not restrict the intake side of the pump. This can damage
the pump head. If you require reduced flow rates, install a valve
on the discharge side of the pump or, if flexible vinyl tubing is
used, a clamp on the tubing.
7. If the pump will be idle for an extended period, clean it
according to the SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS section.
SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS
DISCONNECT THE PUMP FROM THE POWER SOURCE BEFORE
SERVICING OR REMOVING ANY COMPONENT.
The pump head components can be replaced in the field if
necessary. Servicing should be performed only by a service center
or qualified electrician.
NOTE:
The pump motor contains ball bearings, which do not
require lubrication.
1. Remove the pump from the power source.
2. Remove the 4 bolts (item 9), then remove the volute from the
housing.
3. Lightly clean any corrosion or debris that may clog the
impeller.
4. Replace the volute and secure it with the 4 bolts.
5. Connect the pump to a grounded, 120V outlet.
6. If, after servicing, the pump trips its circuit breaker or GFCI,
or otherwise does not operate properly, return it to Little Giant
or an authorized service center. DO NOT attempt repairs
yourself.

DESCRIPTION
La pompe TE-5.5-MDQ-SC est une pompe pour aquarium activée
par aimant et conçue pour faire circuler l’eau à travers le système
de filtration d’un aquarium. La pompe doit être installée à l’extérieur
de l’aquarium et du système de filtration; elle est généralement
montée sous l’aquarium, dans le boîtier qui habrite les systèmes
de filtration (Fig. 1).
Le moteur de la pompe est protégé thermiquement. La tête de
pompe est fabriquée en verre rempli de polypropylène. L’arbre
à broche et les rondelles de butée sont en céramique. L’aimant
à turbine est revêtu de céramique-métal magnétisé A (ferrite de
baryum) avec une douille d’étanchéité en carbone. Les joints
toriques sont en Viton®.
La pompe est complètement préassemblée et prétestée avant sa
sortie de l’usine. Le cordon d’alimentation n’est pas fourni.

DANGER :
Afin d’éviter les chocs électriques, faire preuve de
prudence lors de l’utilisation d’équipement d’aquarium. Ne pas
utiliser la pompe pour pomper des liquides inflammables ou
explosifs comme de l’essence, du mazout, du kérosène, etc. Ne
pas utiliser dans une atmosphère explosive. Pomper des liquides
compatibles avec les matériaux des composants de la pompe
