RailSounds sound system operation

W

ith the RailSounds sound system, you experience the sounds of real railroading like
never before. Simply put, it’s the most sophisticated, authentic model railroad sound

system in the world.

•

Variable chuff rate.

Your locomotive’s speed determines the steam chuff rate.

•

MultiWhistle/Bell.

These features can be activated by pressing the WHISTLE and BELL

buttons on your Transformer (see pages 10 and 11). The bell sound will begin when you
push the button and discontinue when you push it again.

•

Shutdown sequence.

No other model railroad sound system shuts down like

RailSounds. Turn off track power, and after the air-release reset sound, you have two sec-
onds to restart your locomotive. If you’re done with operations, the RailSounds sound sys-
tem will commence with an authentic shutdown sequence about two seconds after the air-
release reset occurs.

•

Braking Sounds.

To activate the screeching sound of your locomotive’s brakes, simply

turn the throttle down as the locomotive is moving. Notice the sound becomes more
intense the faster your engine is moving and the greater its deceleration. This can also be
accomplished by pressing the DIRECTION button while the train is in motion.

A battery must be installed for the shutdown sequence.

Experiencing the range of your locomotive’s RailSounds sound
system

Notes on the RailSounds sound system

•  Use the volume control knob located on the underside of the tender. Refer to Figure 9 on

page 16. Turn the volume set screw clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the volume.

•  Listen for incidental Locomotive sounds during RailSounds sound system operation.

They’re automatic and, of course, authentic.

•  The nine-volt alkaline battery you installed ensures

continuous

sounds, even during short

track-power interruptions.

•  Longer track-power interruptions (including locomotive derailments) cause the

RailSounds sound system to shut down after about seven seconds.

Note!
