Coach Car Basics
Coupling the coach car to the locomotive and other cars
Coach car volume control and switch locations
T
he locomotives and passenger cars covered by this manual are not equipped with the standard
Lionel O gauge couplers. Instead, they are equipped with more period-specific couplers that rep-
resent
the
prototypes.
The sound-equipped coach car has the link designed to couple to the locomotive’s tender. The
other end of the sound-equipped coach car can then be coupled to additional passenger cars.
T
he functions of the sound car’s switches and volume control are outlined below. Refer to Figure
7 for the location of the switches and volume control.
These instructions are specific
to this particular product; note that available features (and switches) may differ
from other locomotives and sound cars.

Program/Run Switch
Used to assign an ID# and reprogram the sound car in LEGACY and Command operation when
the switch is in the PGM position.
It is recommended to program the sound car using the same ID# as the locomotive. This
will allow for seamless operation.
Volume Control
The RailSounds volume control can be found on the underside of the sound car per Figure 7
below. Use a small screwdriver to adjust the volume as desired.
