Operating the Searchlight Car

W

hen you first power up your Searchlight Car, the searchlight will rotate and the lamp
will illuminate according to the factory default settings. Use the Remote-Control or

Uncoupling Track section (available separately, 6-65530 for O gauge; 6-65149 or 6-12746 for
O-27 gauge; or 6-12020 for FasTrack layouts) to operate the car with the searchlight
completely off, rotation only, illumination only, or both rotation and illumination.

Avoid pressing the UNCOUPLE button on the Remote-Control or Uncoupling
Track section for more than three seconds at a time. Allow the track to cool for a
few minutes after operation.

Place the Searchlight Car on the track and center it above the magnet on the Remote-Control
or Uncoupling Track section.

• Quickly press UNCOUPLE. The searchlight will stop rotating, and the lamp will turn off.
• Quickly press UNCOUPLE again. The searchlight will begin to rotate, but the lamp will

remain off. You are ready to operate the car with rotation only.

• Quickly press UNCOUPLE a third time. The searchlight will stop rotating, and the lamp

will turn on. You are ready to operate the car with illumination only.

• Quickly press UNCOUPLE a fourth time. The searchlight will rotate and the lamp will

illuminate. At this point, you are ready to operate the car with its default settings with
illumination and rotation.

Programming the Searchlight Car

U

se your Remote-Control or Uncoupling Track section to program the rate of rotation and
the intensity of the lamp.

1. Place the Searchlight Car on the track and center it above the magnet on the Remote-

Control or Uncoupling Track section.

2. Quickly press UNCOUPLE once. The searchlight will stop rotating, and the lamp will turn

off.

3. Quickly press UNCOUPLE to start the rotation.
4. Press and hold UNCOUPLE for three seconds, then release. The searchlight will begin to

rotate, increasing and decreasing in speed. Take a few moments to study the speed, then
quickly press UNCOUPLE when the rate of rotation reaches your desired level. The rotation
will then stop and the lamp will illuminate.

5. Press and hold UNCOUPLE for three seconds, then release. The lamp will begin to increase

and decrease in intensity. Quickly press UNCOUPLE when the lamps shines at your desired
level.

At this point, the car begins to operate with its programmed settings.

After two minutes of operation with the programmed settings, those settings will
become the new defaults the next time you power up the car. Powering down the
Searchlight Car within two minutes will restore the default settings.
