8. If you are installing the batteries for the first time skip to

step 10.

Never connect metal between the "+" and "-"

terminals of the battery. Although there are not

dangerous voltages present, there is high current (even in an

exhausted battery) and this can cause a dangerous spark

and even heat metal, such as a screwdriver to red hot which

can cause serious burns.

9. Using pliers, carefully pull off the connectors from the

batteries starting with the "–" or BLACK wires. Then remove

the "+" or RED wires. Lift the two batteries from the unit. Do

not lose the plastic spacer that is between the two batteries.

The batteries are heavy.

10. Place the batteries into their respective slots With the plastic battery

space removed in the previous step or supplied in the bag of parts if

this is the first time batteries have been installed in the unit. The

battery should be placed so that the terminals are on the right when

the case is upright and the "+" terminals are on the outside.

11. Reattach the two metal battery straps by placing the long end

through the metal opening in the bottom of the battery tray and

fastening with the #8 screw removed in a previous step. Use care

to make sure the wires are not pinched.

12 Locate the wires labeled positive (RED) and negative

(BLACK).

13. Attach the negative (BLACK) wires to the negative "-"

(BLACK) terminal on the batteries. Make sure you have

connected the proper wire to the proper terminal.

14. Attach the positive (RED) wires to the positive "+" (RED)

terminal on the batteries. Make sure you have connected the

proper wire to the proper terminal.

15. Carefully recheck that the RED wires are attached to the "+"

terminals of the batteries and the BLACK wires are attached

to the "-" terminals of the battery.

16. If you disconnected the LED light wires, reconnect them at

this time.

17. Position the back panel over the unit, align the four corners

and gently tap with your fingers the panel all the way in.

18. Attach the back panel with the four #6 screws removed in a

previous step. The screw should go through the black plastic

foot and into the internal bracket. Ensure that the panel is

on all the way, but, do not over tighten.

Before using this product charge the batteries using one of the

two methods described below.

It is important to turn on the unit. The unit will not charge

without the Battery Switch being in the ON (|) position.

The unit can be charged by using the built in solar panel. Make

sure the solar panel is clean and is placed in as most direct

sunlight as available. When there is enough light to charge the

battery, the Solar Panel Indicator on the LCD will turn on. You

can use the current monitor to help position the solar panel to

get the maximum amount of charging current. In General , the

solar panel should be directly perpendictular to the sun. As the

battery capacity is 18 amp/hours, charging from the solar panel

can take more than one day depending on the amount of power

drained from the batteries.

To charge the unit by household AC plug the unit in with the

supplied line cord. The AC PLUG indicator on the LCD will turn

on. If the unit is not turned on the unit will not charge.

This system produces both 120VAC and 12VDC for powering a

wide variety of devices as well as a USB port for powering or

charging USB devices. It is useful for home or camp in use as

emergency power or renewable energy. It is easy to operate

with standard type power connectors, easy to carry and store. It

also has a TIMER function for automatic operation.

LOADs refers to the 110VAC outlet, 12VDC power outlet, USB

outlet and the built in LED lamp. The system LOADs may be

used while the unit is charging, but, the output power is still

limited to the available battery energy plus the charging power

from either the solar panel or AC line cord.

• USB Charger - This port provides reg5VDC to USB

devices. It is limited to 500mA. The power on this port is

enabled whenever the STBY switch is in the UP or ON

position.
