NPACKING

Unpack carefully. This equipment should be handled with care.

In order to prevent damage during shipping, the batteries for

your unit are not installed. Carefully follow the instructions and

cautions following for correct battery installation.

If you bought your unit at a store, the batteries may be pre-

installed. In either case, retain this manual in a safe place

should you need to replace the batteries in the future.

Check to ensure that the following items are included for the

applicable model ordered:

• Solar powered emergency battery unit.

• Separate box with two batteries (if not pre-installed).

• Removable 3-wire recharging cord.

• Battery spacer ~2"x1"x3/8".

• This manual.

If an item appears to have been damaged in shipment, replace

it properly in its carton and notify the shipper. If any items are

missing, notify LINOR Technology.

The shipping carton along with the handle box (double boxed) is

the safest packing in which the unit may be transported. Save it

for possible future use. The handle box the unit comes in should

not be used alone for shipping, but makes a suitable container

for storing and transporting.

Do not ship with the batteries installed.

S

ERVICE

Other than for replacing the SLA batteries, do not attempt

service to this unit yourself as opening or removing covers may

expose you to dangerous voltage or other hazards. Refer all

servicing to qualified service personnel. If your unit requires

service please contact LINOR Technology for information on

how to obtain service.

B

ATTERY

R

EPLACEMENT

The power storage devices used in this unit are sealed lead acid

batteries (SLA). These batteries are chosen because of their

simplicity, safety and long service life, typically 3 to 5 years

under normal use. However, this comes at the cost of their

weight. For this reason the unit is supplied with the batteries

boxed separately.

Carefully follow this procedure to initially install or replace

the batteries:

WARNING: To prevent electrical shock remove the AC

power cord from the control panel.

WARNING: For further safty remove all other cords from

the control panel.

WARNING: For additional safety disconnect the batteries

by selecting "OFF" or "0" on the BATTERY switch.

CAUTION: This product can and will break if the batteries are

wired incorrectly. LINOR Technology assumes no responsibility

for damaged products due to the user incorrectly attaching the

batteries. Read the instructions through before attempting

battery replacement. If you feel that you are unable to per-form

this operation bring the unit to a small appliance or computer

repair shop.

Use a pair of pliers and a Phillips screwdriver for the

following proceedure.

1. Remove the AC power cord from the control panel.

2. Remove all cords from the control panel.

3. IMPORTANT - Disconnect the batteries from powering the

unit by selecting "OFF" or "0" on the BATTERY switch.

4. Place the unit solar panel down on a clean surface with a

clear space above the unit so the top panel can be laid

down. The LED light should now be facing up. You might

want to put a towel or a piece of cardboard down to protect

the top of a desk or table from being scratched.

5. Remove the four #6 by 3/4 inch screws in each corner and

place the screws in a small container or tray for safe

keeping.

When you remove the cover in the following step

there will be a wire that connects the LED light to the

controller. Be careful not to pull on this wire or it might

break.

6. Carefully lift the cover with the LED light off the rest of the unit.

There is a wire connecting this panel to the main part. Without

moving it too far away, flip the cover over and place at the top of

the main unit.

7. Remove the metal straps (2 pieces) that secure the batteries

by unscrewing the #8 screw from each. Be careful not to

drop the screw into the unit. Put them with the cover

screws.
