Installation
Ensure the relevant drivers are installed before using this product.
Windows and Mac Drivers can be found on the included CD or downloaded from the FTDI website:
www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm, supported device “FT232BL(M)”
If a previous version of this LINDY Product has been installed on your system, drivers for this previous
device need to be uninstalled before installing any new drivers. See Uninstalling section.
Note: When using multiple Extenders on a single system, each Extender must be installed with an
individual driver, i.e. you have to repeat this installation procedure for each Extender you use.
Windows
1. Connect the Transmitter unit to the host computer via USB
2. Windows should automatically install the composite driver for this device. Once the driver has
been installed the Found New Hardware Wizard will launch
3. Click "Next" to proceed with the installation following the Wizard
4. The COM port emulation driver must be installed after this first installation has completed
5. Next connect the transmitter to the receiver with Cat.5 (or higher) cable up to a maximum length of
70m
6. Finally connect the Receiver to your sink equipment via a serial RS232 cable
7. The power LEDs will light up on both the Transmitter & Receiver and the Extender will be ready for
use
Uninstalling Instructions
Note: Uninstalling a device should be done through the Add/Remove utility.
1. Disconnect any parts of the Extender from your computer & equipment
2. Open the Add/Remove Utility located in "Control Panel\Add/Remove Programs”
3. Select "FTDI USB Serial Converter Drivers” from the list of installed programs
4. Click the "Change/Remove" button
5. Click "Continue" to run the Uninstaller or “Cancel” to exit
MAC OS X
1. Download the relevant driver from the VCP Drivers section of the FTDI web site, saving them to
your hard disk
2. The driver will be downloaded as a .dmg. Double clicking on this .dmg icon will start the installation
process
